MUSIC ARTIST AKON BRINGS ELECTRICITY TO 600 MILLION PEOPLE IN AFRICA

Many media outlets are focused on feeding their readers with nonsense like celebrity gossip like who is dating who and who was born a man and now decides to become a woman while we tend to focus more on things that actually matter! One important topic would be that of music superstar Akonwho is a Senegalese-American singer. He has put himself in the position to change and make a major impact on the continent of Africa.

“Akon Lighting Africa” is a powerful new initiative that Akon has just launched. This goal of this initiative is to bring electricity to 600 million people in Africa to be accomplished through his Solar Academy.

Akon's Solar Academy supports African engineers and green energy entrepreneurs, cultivating resources needed to produce sustainable solar power enterprises that work. The academy facilitates experts who will bring training and equipment instruction to ambitious African engineers.

There is nothing more abundant on the continent of Africa than “sun” which could be the big problem solver. Rural Africa has been catching on to the new technology and is in great need of it. Akon’s Solar Academy looks to harness that power through microgrids and solar supported electricity systems to bring light to a region that the world has largely forgotten.

Thione Niang from the Akon Lighting Africa organization stated, “We expect the Africans who graduate from this center to devise new, innovative, technical solutions.” She continued by stating that, “We have the sun and innovative technologies to bring electricity to homes and communities. We now need to consolidate African expertise.”
