Universal Music Says Artists Would Benefit From a Spotify Equity Sale. "Consistent with UMG's approach to artist compensation, artists would share in the proceeds of a [Spotify] equity sale," the rep said.

Sony Confirms It Will Share Spotify Equity Money With Its Indie Label Partners. “Sony Music will be sharing with its distributed labels,” said a spokesperson; the company’s stake in Spotify is thought to be worth more than $1bn at current valuations.

CD Baby Paid Indie Artists $80M In 2017, Up 33%. The bulk of the income for CD Baby distributed artists came from three sources last year: Spotify (35%), iTunes (24%) and Apple Music (13%), followed by Pandora (8%), Amazon (7%), and Google Music (4%).

Warner Music, Facebook Finalize Licensing Partnership. Thanks to a new deal, users of the social network can create, upload, and share videos music licensed from WMG, to "enable users to personalize their music experiences" across Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and Oculus.
